A Papillon Rescue Shelter Charges an Adoption Fee

October 6th, 2011 · No Comments · Pets

Many people are intending to adopt a Papillon dog from a rescue center or adoption organization, but they don’t know how to find a good papillon rescue shelter because they don’t know anything about what are these rescue shelters and how they work.

The first thing that you need to know is that dog rescue shelters are started and run by people who love dogs. All people who are running and working in these animal rescue shelters and organizations are committed to their mission of providing the animals in their responsibility with all they need, excellent care, love, affection and plenty of attention until they are able to find a permanent and loving home for the dogs in their care. In many cases, the people who run these shelters are all volunteers, often spending their own money for expensive vet care, food and other things necessary to keep these animals healthy, happy and well socialized.

The adoption fees charged by these shelters are quite small and they often do not cover all the care a rescued dog may have received to get it healthy enough to go to a new home. Generally, rescue shelters specialized in some breeds of dogs, like the Papillon breed, are well run and have excellent facilities. There are always exceptions of course and the only way to know for sure if the Papillon rescue shelter you are getting your new pet from is good is by visiting the facility and talking to the people there.

You can start your search for a specific shelter using the local phone book, Yellow Pages or the internet. Simply typing in Papillon rescue shelters and the name of your state will bring up a list of Papillon rescues shelters in your state from which you can find the ones closest to you.

Having the list of the closest shelters from your location, the next step is to contact one of them, explain you are interested in adopting a Papillon dog and ask for an appointment and the permission to visit the shelter, see the conditions dogs are cared in and talk to some of the people who are working there. In most cases the shelter will be happy to oblige and will set up a day and a time for you to visit. If you do not receive the permission to visit the rescue center, don’t try to adopt from them, just pass to the next one.

Once you arrive at the shelter for your visit make sure to take note of the cleanliness of the shelter and how the volunteers or helpers relate to the dogs in their care. If everything meets with your approval then discuss the application for adoption, the adoption fee and ask what types of information you can expect to be given about the dog of your choice. Most papillon rescue centers will be thrilled at not only your interest in making the visit but, will be impressed with the questions you ask.

Locating a good Papillon rescue shelter is simply a matter of doing a simple search, visiting the shelter to make sure that the pets in their care are treated well and lovingly and asking the right questions. You should know that all those who work in these shelters have dedicated their time and energy to the mission of giving these dogs a chance to restart and finding them good families who will love and care for them in a proper manner.
